Asia Bibi Continues to Wait in Legal Limbo
“If they let her go, they face the wrath of radical Muslims in Pakistan. If they go ahead and uphold the verdict and execute her, they face the wrath of the international community which says, ‘How can you put a wife and mother to death simply for having a discussion about religion, about Jesus versus Mohammed? That’s unconscionable. How could you do that?'”

Persecution news continues to be fierce and extremely heartbreaking. I am unable to keep up with the posting, but pray continually throughout the day, as it seems the only way to combat the horror. This is what Our Savior has commanded us to do. Victims of persecution around the world ask for prayers. Prayers are needed for those who persecute as well. Week of Persecution posts will be discontinued, but following are links for persecution news from around the world (not in any particular order):

For we do not preach ourselves but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your bond-servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves; we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. For we who live are constantly being delivered over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So death works in us, but life in you. 2 Corinthians 4:5-12 Christians Devastated by Mob Attack - page no longer available Prayer Alert, December 2nd Release International Native Americans and the Great Commission Disaster Julie Bourdon Mission Network News Tension Rises in Indonesia -page no longer available International Christian Concern A Trail of Destruction and Devastation in Iraq Chris Mitchell Breaking Christian News Christians Support Chip and Joanna Gaines Breaking Christian News "Christian Churches Must Arm Their Congregations" in Nigeria Theodore Shoebat Shoebat Foundation Who Gets In? Now a recent report about another state in the Middle Belt, Nasarawa, shows that it too has been the scene of serious violence against Christians. In the period January 2013 – May 2016, 826 Christians were killed and 878 injured. There were 102 churches destroyed or damaged.
Beside these, 787 houses were destroyed, as well as 9 shops, 32 cars and motorcycles. Many families were completely deprived of their livelihoods. Around 21,000 Christians were reported as Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in different camps inside and outside Nasarawa State. Due to the difficult security situation, the authors of the in-depth fact-finding report are convinced that they were only able to report part of what really happened... I stand with Dr. Eric Walsh's freedom to believe and live according to his deeply-held beliefs. The demand that he hand over his sermons, sermon notes, and all pastoral documents including his Bible represents a government intrusion into the sanctity of the church, pastor's study, and pulpit. Heavy-handed tactics like this have the effect of intimidating and silencing people of faith everywhere. Such targeting of the pulpit by the government is unconscionable, and I urge you to use all means of your authority to correct this egregious overreach of the state into church affairs. Christians and Muslims in Pakistan worked together to get basphemy charges dropped against a nine-year-old Pakistani Christian boy.
The boy, Izhan and his mother, Shakil, a nurse from Quetta, were accused six days ago of burning pages of the Quran. The police were called in and the mother and child imprisoned. This led to protests by local Christian and Muslim leaders and politicians, and the charges [were] quashed. The political party Jamait Ulema Islam, or Assembly of Islamic Clergy, played a key role in freeing the two Christians from jail... |
